The Problem: Patients from the Metro Phoenix area were unaware when their audiologists and treatment teams moved. This put their hearing and lives on hold. They needed to find where their local audiologist and treatment team members had moved in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Peoria, and Surprise.
The Good News
Those missing audiologists, hearing doctors, and their treatment team members have been found. They accept new and past patients at their new office locations throughout the Metro area at Hearing and Brain Centers of America., with five convenient locations throughout the Metro area, including North Scottsdale, Paradise Valley/Phoenix, Glendale/Peoria, Surprise, and Ahwatukee/Phoenix.

Phoenix audiologist Dr. Stephanie Clark changes lives with hearing and tinnitus treatment. She started in 1990 when she earned her Doctor of Audiology degree from the Arizona School of Health Sciences in Mesa, Arizona. After that, Dr. Clark spent over a decade with a large insurance company managing its audiology and hearing aid department. She then spent another decade plus treating metro-area hearing loss and tinnitus patients.
Also!
Dr. Christina Radous has been treating patients in Phoenix, Goodyear, and Glendale, Arizona, with hearing and tinnitus conditions since joining an Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor in the North Valley in 2007. Working closely with physicians in the North Valley and the Biltmore area has given Dr. Radous a special appreciation for the medical treatment of hearing loss and tinnitus rather than a focus on traditional hearing aids. When she learned more about Hearing and Brain Centers of America’s founder, Dr. Keith Darrow, a Harvard Medical and M.I.T. Trained Neuroscientist, she couldn’t help but join his team to bring the patients of metro Phoenix the best of hearing and tinnitus treatment, focused on preventing decline in our aging population.
Always Learning
Dr. Radous and this Arizona hearing healthcare team just returned from their continuing education trip, where they spent two action-packed days learning from Dr. Keith Darrow, Ph.D., CCC-A, CDP, on the impact hearing loss and tinnitus have on cognition, memory, and the brain.
Another Team
Audiologist Dr. Hannah Rauch and her treatment teammate in Surprise, Arizona, Suzette Bologna (Patient Experience Coordinator), are now accepting patients looking for hearing and life improvement through the medical treatment of hearing loss, tinnitus, and the associated cognitive impact. Hannah joined Dr. Darrow's vision after working with patients for four years in Surprise, Arizona. She focused on the preventative nature of hearing loss treatment, including the fact that 40% of Dementia cases are preventable.
The Brain
Hearing loss can affect several brain parts, particularly those associated with auditory processing and language. Some of the critical regions include:
- Auditory cortex: The auditory cortex processes complex sound information. Decreased auditory input can affect these processes.
- Auditory pathways: Hearing loss can impact the neural pathways that transmit auditory signals from the ear to the brain.
- Wernicke's area: This region is crucial for language comprehension. Hearing loss can make it more challenging to understand spoken language.
- Hippocampus: Memory is associated with the Hippocampus. Hearing loss can influence it, potentially impacting memory function.
- Prefrontal cortex: Hearing loss may affect cognitive functions, including attention and executive functions primarily associated with the prefrontal cortex.
- Limbic system: The limbic system plays a role in emotional regulation and responses and can be altered by hearing loss.
It's important to note that the specific impact on these brain regions can vary depending on the severity and duration of hearing loss and the individual's ability to adapt to the changes. Based on hearing aid research, modern technology is often used to help mitigate the effects of hearing loss on the brain by providing the proper auditory stimulation.
Dr. Jaslean Ahuja-Michals is an audiologist and hearing healthcare specialist in North Scottsdale. For many years, Jalean and Sarah Orozco have been the Patient Experience Coordinators. They have focused on the medical benefits of treating damage to the auditory system (hearing loss and tinnitus). They have many patient reviews and testimonials.
Dr. Ahuja-Michals is a holistic healer at heart. With her holistic passion and knowledge of the neuroscience of hearing loss, Dr. Michals provides patients with an experience to remember. This is partly due to the improved memory that comes from hearing loss treatment.
Dr. Ahuja-Michals educates and treats the metro community on improved hearing and quality of life. When not in her office, she is found throughout the valley, including Westminster Village Senior Living and Sagewood Retirement Community. She also attends public outreach events throughout the City of Phoenix Senior Network.
